What's Going On!

American Image is currently looking for rehearsal and performance space, at low or no cost.  We are planning a fundraiser to benefit veterans and members of the Armed Forces later this year.

Our last event was in May 2005, "A TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO SERVERED", a photo exhibit honoring those who served in the military.  The American Legion was vital in us obtaining space at the San Francisco War Memorial, kudos to Commander Vince Rios and American Legion War Memorial Commissioner Rudy Asercion for their help and support. You can view samples of the exhibit by subscribing to, American Image Theatre Yahoo Group at:

Behind the Scenes

Although we may not be producing a play or presenting a show there is always something going on behind the scenes. For many years we rehearsed and performed in a cafe in the Tenderloin and hosted a dance club to get kids off the streets. Unfortunately our venue burnt down and we have not been able to find a suitable replacement. We also produced stages at the Oakland Pride Celebrations. At times we have produced dance clubs in order to introduce new performers to the public. We our proud of what we do with so little and hope next time you see an American Image Theatre Company Production you will join and celebrate the arts with us. All donations are appreciated and tax deductible as allowed by law.

A platform for the arts, it encourages pro-active community-minded participation and audiences are invited to contribute a can of food - or one dollar to a hunger relief fund - at all their events. Cannery Works enjoys a mutually supportive relationship with The Food Bank for New York City and since their founding; artists and audiences have contributed over 500 cans of food.
